02 / Capabilities

From a first idea.
To a working change.

For students, developers and founders. Understand your code, develop your ideas, and learn through hands-on project work.

01

Understand what you're building.

Explore a project's architecture, trace unfamiliar code, and ask for explanations while you work. Go beyond a copied answer to understand the change.

A clearer starting point for coursework, personal apps and product code.
02

Move from idea to implementation.

Ask Blue to plan a change, edit project files, and run relevant checks. When a task benefits from parallel work, eligible paid users can enable multiple agents.

Work in your project, not in an isolated prompt box.
03

Make progress. Keep control.

Review requested permissions and follow the changes in your project. Available task checkpoints let you review and restore supported file changes.

Check AI-generated code and results before you use or publish them.
04

Connect the tools you already use.

Bring supported GitHub, Canva, and Vercel connections into your workflow. Keep your account permissions and provider limits in view.

Connections require sign-in and depend on third-party availability.

Questions about Blue.

The essentials: how to start, how costs work, and how to keep your project in your hands.

What is Blue?

Blue by Imergene is an AI coding workspace for Windows, with a coding assistant extension for VS Code. Students, developers and founders can use it to understand code, build projects and debug. Blue Desktop also includes Team mode for coordinating AI agents on coding, research and browser tasks. Read about Blue by Imergene.

What is an AI coding agent, and how does Blue work?

A coding agent can work through a task using project files and development tools, rather than only suggesting the next line of code. In Blue, ask for a bounded change, follow its tool activity, and inspect the changed files and check results. Permissions, your selected model and local tools determine what can run; completion is not guaranteed. Explore Blue's AI coding agent and example tasks.

What is Blue Teams, and is it available in VS Code?

Blue Teams provides access to Team mode in Blue Desktop for Windows. Give Blue a goal, assign specialist roles and follow each agent's work in its own conversation. Agents can coordinate project work and hand off tasks, within your active plan's team and agent limits. The VS Code extension is for coding assistance; it does not include Desktop Team mode. See Blue Teams plans and the Team mode preview.

Can Blue Teams work while my computer is off?

No. Team agents run through Blue on your computer, not as always-on cloud workers. Keep Blue open, your computer on and awake, and an internet connection available for model requests and online tasks. Closing Blue, sleep or a restart can interrupt work. Automatic execution still depends on your plan, selected engine, permissions and available services.

What can team agents do in the browser?

When a task and the selected engine support it, Desktop agents can use Blue's built-in browser for research and work on websites you authorize. You remain responsible for signing in, completing verification and approving actions when required. Site permissions, account limits and connection failures can prevent completion; a Teams plan does not bypass them or guarantee a task's outcome.

How can Blue help with student projects?

Ask Blue to explain unfamiliar code, plan a feature, inspect a project, or help debug a problem. Review its changes and ask why they work. Follow your course's AI policy for assessed work. Our student guide includes a practical task for evaluating an assistant.

Where can I install Blue?

Download Blue Desktop for Windows through Microsoft, or install Blue Coding Assistant in VS Code. If the VS Code command-line tool is available, use this command:

$code --install-extension om-mali.blue-coding-assistant

Then sign in, choose a model provider, and open your project folder. See the setup documentation.

Is Blue free, and are model requests included?

Blue Lite is a free entry plan. With OpenRouter BYOK, model usage is billed by your provider to your own key, where applicable. Free models can still have rate limits. Blue Pro uses Blue Credits for selected premium models; free app access does not mean unlimited free premium inference.

What does the Blue subscription cost?

Blue costs ₹149 for 30 days, ₹399 for 90 days, or ₹1,299 for 365 days. These are prepaid access periods with no auto-renewal. Team mode requires a separate active Blue Teams plan. Model usage depends on your selected engine and connection; a Teams plan does not include unlimited AI requests. Compare eligible features and Blue Pro credits on the pricing page.

Does every action use Blue Credits?

No. The Blue subscription pays for app features and does not require Blue Credits when using your own model-provider key. With BYOK, any model usage charges come from your provider, not your Blue Credits balance. Blue Credits pay for model usage through Blue Pro. A code edit, local test, or deployment is not a separately priced Blue Credit action; AI model calls during that work can incur usage costs through your selected connection. See the separate access and model-usage options.

Can Blue run tests, and does it guarantee correct code?

With a project folder, Blue can run relevant commands and checks using your local tools, subject to permissions and availability. Read the actual results and review changed files. AI-generated code can be wrong; a failed or uncompleted check is not a passing test, and no assistant guarantees correctness or security.
